I Thought it was about time to write a new post. These past weeks has been full of work, I have been assigned to video tape some lessons for a research project and when I am not doing that I work on a coding book for the current project - a task thats actually quite stimulating and interesting.
The floor ball season is over and I try to fill the weekend with something else. I have bought myself a 19 inch flat screen and a computer. The screen is calibrated so you can switch between TV, PC or DVD which is quite useful. Hence, I have seen a lot of movies these weeks:
- Band of Brothers - Damn good series with the best sound effects I heard for a long time (I bought the complete series for 20 S$)
- Below (A submarine horror movie, pretty cool)
- Devils Pick (Jack Black in a crazy movie)
- House of sand and Fog (A drama about what might happen if you don't pay you bills :-) )
- Somethings got to Give (Jack Nicholson as old cassanova have a heart attack an rethinks was important)
- Europa, Epidemic, Evidence of a Crime (Lars von Triers debut and the early films in his career)
- Weather Report underground -An interesting documentary about the so called weather report group in the US who eventually went underground after being targeted by FBI. They aimed to start a revolution and performed a big number of attacks on official building in USA during the 60's and 70's. Most funny part was how they manage to help Leary, a hippie who had an LSD sect, to escape from prison to later be transfered to Angola, where he sent a message of peace and love and marijuana for all. You could really see he didn't give a rats ass about the revolution part, he just wanted to get high. The documentary also revealed some unpleasant things about FBI with what obviously was an assassination of Black Panthers members and the killing of George Jackson. Finally I got to know who Dylan is singing about in one of his songs.
- Story of the weeping Camel - A magic documentary about the life of a nomad family living in the Gobi desert. It touched the very core of life with its pure elements of wind, air, earth and fire. The cycle of birth and death of all living things.
At the Cinema
- Besides that I seen 300 at the cinema. An extreme stylized movie about the Spartans defending their city from the Persian ivasion. Based on a comic (and real events of course)
- Shooter, Mark Wahlberg in a brain dead movie. Its a blend of Sniper (with Tom Berenger), Long Kiss Goodnight (with Geena Davis) Die Hard (Bruce Willis). Its stupid but fun anyhow, you accept the movie, have your popcorn and disconnect your brain. But at the end of the movie -don't ask me why- the director suddenly become pretentious and want to make a political statement and social critique of corruption and power. What can I say, the last 10 minutes is just one big fat turkey. Rent this movie when you have a hangover.
- The number 23. Jim Carrey in a thriller that got its points. Not a must see though
Final words
The picture might be a little de-contextualized. I just felt it was to boring with only text. This is also a 'payback' for Mange teasing me for a picture where I wasn't to photo genique :-)
Finally, I have to say I miss you folks at home. There is a definitive lack of 30+ bachelors to hang out with, people who still like to get a little bit too drunk, hang out at cafes and develop a nerdish interest in movies, music and books. I hope I see you in "Old Svea" later this year.

Ok, nu far du skaa dig en blog och ge igen :-)
Schnygg bild.
