Spending some time in Asia has shifted the perspective on things. Asian politics and and event become the center of the world. So far the more odd news, that probably didnt hit the international arena are:1. Taksin Shinawatra (the exiled Thai prime minister) was certain that black magic was involved in his political troubles, some unknown groups had put a spell on his doings using black magic. Black magic by the way deserves its own chapter and is a quite common belief among Asians as being real and existent.
2. Indonesia suddenly raised the price of sand exported to Singapore. Singapore who is experience a construction boom was outraged. They had a huge need for the sand to blend to concrete used in skyscrapers and block houses. Singapore is by the way planning to expand from about 4 million inhabitants to 6 million. The sand issue was later settled and it marked the end to what I called the sandbox war.
3. In Malaysia there is an controversial trial going on involving a famous Malay politician, a Mongolian former photo model who also was his mistress and was found gruesomely murdered in the jungle and private detective hired by the very same politician. There is traces pointing toward an assassin by four policemen that was ordered by the politician do do away with her.
4. Finally, the two pictures shows Indonesian protesters from the Indonesian Karate Association (better watch out I heard they know karate). They are angry cause an Indonesian karate referee has been badly beaten by the Malay police during a tournament visit. On his way from his hotel he was approached by four policemen dressed as civilians who came up to question him. He though he was going to be robbed so he try to kick them down but ended up badly beaten himself. There has been protests in Indonesia where the Malays are asked to ask for forgiveness, which they refuse to do. In the aftermath a mob of Indonesians went to a badminton tournament (sic!) to look for Malay participants to beat up. The Malay badminton players were hastily evacuated and sent back to Malaysia.
5. I was just thinking of the Lars Vilks "Rondell hunden" I don't think the news of it it has spread here yet and I hope it will not cause I like to take a trip to Malaysia in between.
Stupidity doesn't seem to have any borders...

Rondellhunden - Jo, det eldas med svenska flaggor lite här och där och ett 20-tal ambassadörer har talat om saken med Reinfeldt. Sjukt, sjukt, sjukt.

Skall till Malaysia i helgen. Har inte last nagat om det hela har dock. Pa torsdag borjar Ramadan sa jag hoppas folk ar for trotta for att tjafsa :-).
Saga vad man vill men de mer fanatiska muslimerna skulle kanske ma bra av att vara mer "trygga i sin tro" for att anvanda en euphemism. Dvs inte bli bindgalna sa fart nagan har en ofordelaktig uppfattning om deras tro. Det ar ju markligt att hela sjalvbilden tycks sta och fall med omvarldens varderingar.
